After months of cold, wet, and windy weather and spending evenings wrapped up in dressing gowns and duvets, the sun has finally decided to come out to play. I don’t know about you, but the weather really affects my enthusiasm and motivation. It puts me in a good mood and makes me feel like I’m ready for anything. I have a lot of deadlines approaching, including the most terrifying one of them all…. Graduation. But with the sun shining as it was today, I’m feeling motivated to get them all done, and do them well.
Now, I’m no idiot. I know very well that this unprecedented British weather will undoubtedly be short-lived, but that’s why it’s important to make the most of it while it lasts. I think at this time of year we all need a pick me up. There may be days when we’re stuck in the library revising, wanting to escape to a beer garden when we know we shouldn’t. So surely it’s better to look out of the window and see the sun shining rather than a grey Leicester day?
One thing I will say about Leicester in the summer is that we’re lucky to have Victoria Park right next to campus. It’s the perfect place to have an ice cream fuelled revision break in the sun. Being from Wales, I’m used to seeing greenery all around so it’s nice to have that small reminder of home on my doorstep in Leicester.
With a couple of weeks left of the Easter break, I want to wish everyone the best of luck with their assignments and revision, especially those in their final year of study. It’s not long now until the finish line, so it’s worth pulling out all the stops. I just hope this weather lasts long enough to get me through it!
