Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas break. With the New Year approaching us (still can’t believe it), I am sure a lot of you, including me, will be reevaluating some of the choices we made through this year. This is when creating a New Year’s resolutions list comes in handy. I know. New Year’s resolutions are highly overrated. But they serve as the perfect opportunity to think of all the things you wished to change but failed to do so for reasons of your own. I am aware that a lot of people want to adopt a healthier lifestyle. As students, switching to a healthier diet can be quite tricky with all the cheap junk food we are surrounded by. Besides, numerous students don’t find healthy cooking convenient due to time constraints. Here’s a list of places that have some delicious healthy dishes on their menu and the prices are decent too.
a) The Detox Shack
The Detox Shack is the health food lover’s paradise. Opened recently this year, this cosy little restaurant serves food that your body will love. Think quiona, salad boxes and one of those vibrant smoothies you usually see on Instagram. If that doesn’t sound enticing enough, they also serve vegan, gluten-free dessert options. Doesn’t get any better, does it?
Situated on the Highcross Lane, Wagamama incorporates the flavors of Japan in its menu. They have nutritional noodles, salads made from fresh produce and fresh juices to name just a few. They too have a gluten-free menu. It has a great ambiance when it’s not too crowded.
c) Pizza Express
This a great place if you are a pizza lover like me. Pizza Express has a lighter menu called the Leggera menu that serves easy on the calorie pizza and pasta options as well as superfood salads.
d) Boost Juice Bar
This is a great place to stop by if you want to just grab a smoothie on the go. They have a variety of different options to choose from. You can even customise your own juice or smoothie. They use fresh fruits and low fat yogurt. It tastes great and it meets your body’s nutrional needs!
I hope you get a chance to try these places out if haven’t already. Share some of your favourite healthy restaurants and cafes you like to dine at in Leicester in the comment section below. I hope you all had a very merry Christmas!
