As a sequel to my previous post, it makes sense for me to curate another post uncovering all the wonderful coffee spots scattered over Leicester. As a coffee lover, I actively endeavour to scout out places that not only brew good coffee, but also sell other delicious baked goods. I have listed below my favorite coffee hideouts that are an amalgamation of both great coffee and a calming ambience.
- Six Degrees:
This café definitely features at the top of my list, owing to its truly homely interiors and brilliant coffee. The staff are also really friendly and always make customers feel welcome. The range of cakes on display (from the indulgent chocolate brownies to the humble fruit loaf) are irresistible and for good reason, as they complement the coffee perfectly. The affordability and philanthropic ethos of the café (a portion of its proceeds go towards charity) particularly add to its appeal.
- Northern Cobbler:
For students who live in Clarendon Park, the Northern Cobbler is a must-visit especially if you love coffee. The Instagram-worthy interiors and high quality coffee are definitely the strong points of this café. For individuals who like good presentation, the Northern Cobbler does this to perfection – with beautiful delicate glass cutlery and perfectly pyramidal dense cakes.
I truly don’t think any list related to coffee is truly complete without mentioning Starbucks. As there is even a Starbucks outlet within the Student Union in the University, convenience definitely prevails over the other advantages. What I particularly like about Starbucks is their commitment to consistency – you can rarely go wrong with classics like a cappuccino or a chai tea latte.
- Caffè Nero:
This café is situated in the heart of the City Centre, which makes it perfect for a pick-me-up in the midst of some shopping or a midday coffee run (if your like me). What I love about Caffè Nero is its range of cold beverages such as the frappes, which can be great especially during summer time. Their baked products (especially the Belgian chocolate brownies) are always of exquisite quality and can really satisfy that sweet tooth craving.
Costa is a popular favorite amongst coffee lovers and it has several branches across Leicester. What I particularly like about Costa are the super friendly baristas and the great range of bakery products they have (I have seen everything from birthday cake to chocolate chip muffins). They also have seasonal favorites such as gingerbread lattes in winter and cold brew coffee and smoothies for summer.
