No overarching concepts to comprehend or stories this week, just a little reminder that freshers isn’t over! Because now it’s sport’s and society’s week!
Yes, you thought that the excessive drinking was over. But no, now you can bond with a whole new set of people. I wouldn’t worry too much though. If you joined your subject’s society, you’ll get to meet the people who represent your course’s interests and probably share a fair few of your modules.
Once the O2 and Queen’s Hall has been cleaned out of the society stands, the floodgates of alcohol open. Nearly every club you can think of at the university will be descending on Leicester’s pubs and bars. Wednesday and Friday will be complete chaos, hopefully in a positive way.
Since this is the Politics blog, it seems appropriate to give another shout out to the Politics and International Relations Society Welcome Bar Crawl! I mean, it’s not like I organised it (HINT HINT). It’s on tomorrow (Wednesday 11th October) and it’s gonna be a fantastic evening to meet course mates or just others interested in politics while stumbling your way back to the O2. We’ll be meeting outside the O2 at 7pm before setting off to the first bar at 7.15/7.30pm. Anyone in Oadby, we’ll be there as well to direct you on to buses. And remember to pick up your t-shirts or you’ll miss out!
