Hey y’all. It’s that time of year when prospective students are having a gander around the universities they’ve applied for through UCAS. I looked around so many. It’s good to get a feel for the city and the environment you’re going to be living in for the next 3 years. One of the main factor’s that attracted me towards the city of Leicester was the fact that it has sports teams in the two most prestigious leagues for football and rugby. I became an honorary Leicester City fan in the 2013/2014 season so I could see some Premiership games at the KP Stadium the following season. I’m praying that they avoid relegation so next year’s students can have the same privilege.
Portsmouth’s alright for American Studies. Not the best, not the worst. Cracking part of England to live as well. One of the negative things about Portsmouth is that it’s very far for anyone north of Birmingham. From a personal point of view, being from Portsmouth, I could never see myself going to my hometown University. As Drake said- “You Only Live Once”. So go somewhere new and broaden your horizons!
Kent is ranked higher than Portsmouth in the league table. Kent’s a cracking University but you don’t get the ol’ hustle and bustle of a big city which could take its toll on your life as student. Leicester on the other hand is a massive city with lots to offer. The Campus is very much like Leicester but the David Wilson Library at Leicester trumps any university library I’ve looked around. Period.
Leicester is higher than both Portsmouth and Kent in the league table and boasts a more exciting city to live in. The only negative I can think of with living in halls in Leicester is the bus journey from halls to University. Saying that, it is a laugh trying to stay on for the entire journey whilst trying to conquer those hangovers during freshers week. All I can say is, come and have a look around the University and you’ll quickly see the amount of things Leicester can offer you.
