Hey y’all. You’ve probably already found a house for next year but I just wanted to let you know where I would recommend.
Clarendon: Clarendon is the area where pretty much everyone wants to live. Queen’s Road is proper handy in terms of all the crucial amenities and you can always find a bargain in Price Buster’s – a cracking little shop were you can literally buy anything for a quid. The houses are generally smaller around this area as they tend to cater for 3-4 people but it does seem to be the most popular because of its cool little high street. House prices tend to be around £65-70 a week. Main highlight – Queen’s Tandoori ‘Bring Your Own Beer’ Restaurant.
Evington: Evington is completely different to Clarendon. It’s high street isn’t as picturesque as Clarendon but it does have a Maryland’s Chicken which isn’t to be sniffed at. It’s considered to be one of the many jewels in Leicester’s fast-food crown. The houses do tend to be a lot bigger around the Evington area as they can cater from 3/4 up until about 8! It’s probably the same distance away from Uni as Clarendon is. House’s are slightly cheaper at around £60-65 a week. Main Highlight – Maria’s Hairdressers. At £5.50 a trim you can’t turn it down.
In terms of what you want to look for in a house, you would want a house that has a big kitchen to stack all of your dirty dishes and a large communal area for those FIFA tournaments. A garden isn’t crucial but could be a little treat in the summer revision period.
Let me know where you think it’s best to live in Leicester and why!
Cheers,
Jack
