Hey y’all. Sorry it’s been a while. The job search is going slow to say the least so I thought I would give an insight to some of the activities that a student could be doing after their exams. It’s seen as the most middle class, elitist, non-studenty sport but golf has become a prominent activity in our household. Contrary to Mark Twain’s belief that “Golf is a good walk spoiled” I am prepared to contest that it is one of the best and cheapest activities for a student to partake in. Not only does it get you out and about in the Leicester sunshine but its competitive nature and health benefits makes it an activity that can appeal to anyone.
Blaby Golf Centre: Located just outside Oadby, Blaby has an excellent centre for any beginner. It’s cheap and cheerful and doesn’t have a dress code; music to any student’s ears. They also have crazy golf for anyone who wants to whack a golf ball and hope for the best.
Humberstone Heights Golf Course: It’s a little bit more up market and a little bit more out of the way but it’s worth the travel. The price for 18 h0les is also very competitive and if you’re as slow as me and my housemates around a golf course then you more than get your money’s worth.
(Humberstone in all its glory + a lot of filters)
That’s what my days have been consisting of recently. Comment if you have any suggestions of activities that can beat a splendid round of golf, I doubt you can.
Cheers,
Jack
