Hiya, I’m Olivia and I’m an American Studies student. I’ve just finished my first year at Leicester which flew by at record speed, which I guess is a good thing as it shows I’ve had a great time, however I will be sad to no longer be a fresher with the right of passage to party hard. It’s crazy to think a year ago I was waiting for my A-Level results uncertain of where I was even going to go to Uni let alone what my first year would be like, now looking back I can safely say that I lived first year to the full and even managed to nab some sweet grades as well as making friends and socialising.
Although I could reminisce over first year for hours, it’s important to look forward too. Going into my second year I feel I’ve learned a lot (don’t leave The West essay till the last minute) and I’m excited to start a new year in my own house with my friends. While going into the second year of my course is naturally a little daunting, the prospect of new modules, including new literature texts, and preparations for the year abroad have given me high expectations for the year.
When I, sadly, left halls at the end of this year my friends and I were all pretty down about leaving not only each other but halls themselves too, however I vowed that we should make every year at uni even better than the last so if you want to see if I fulfil this promise and have an even better second year, watch this space.
