Halloween is finally upon us! As I am sure it is for many, Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year. You get to test you creativity skills through pumpkin carving and trying to come up with the most unique but equally scary costume. It is also one of the most social events in a student’s yearly calendar and honestly this year’s Halloween is making me miss home and my friends quite a lot!
Despite this I have my costume ready for this evening and plan to enjoy the night and make new Halloween memories with the new friends I have made on my Erasmus year abroad. But unfortunately Halloween in Malta is a one night event unlike the University of Leicester’s Student Union who make Halloween a 4 night event (or 5 nights as it is this year – which I am very sad to be missing out on, especially the Red Leicester Reunion!!).
In my first year at the University of Leicester I decided not to take part in Halloween as I didn’t think it would be for me however after hearing only great stories the week after, Halloween the following year was something I looked forward to months in advance. As last year was only 4 nights rather than this year’s 5, I planned 4 separate outfits to wear on each night along with my housemate. We both thoroughly enjoyed planning our outfits and buying all the bits we needed to complete them as well as executing them. I have missed planning outfits with one of my best friends this year and I look forward to returning to Leicester next year for my fourth year in which I am sure I will be attending all Halloween events planned by the Universities Students Union and I recommend to anyone who hasn’t done Halloween at the University of Leicester that they do so next year as you will create memories that will stay with you forever.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
