Despite it only being the end of March I have already got a list of things I have got planned to do over the summer! The University of Leicester has opened up so many new opportunities for me and many of these opportunities are what I have taken up in order to fill my summer holiday with exciting plans!
Firstly I was lucky enough to get a space on my Erasmus year abroad University archaeological dig. I am very excited for this as it means that my last few weeks in Malta at the end of June into July will be spent helping excavate a Roman Villa. I think it’s fair to say that I am more than excited about this!!
After returning home from my Erasmus year abroad, which I am sure is going to be very sad for me, I will be heading to Scotland for three weeks as a volunteer on a University of Leicester research dig at Ardnamurchan. Helping excavate this prehistoric site will no doubt help me with my post-Erasmus blues!
Other than helping excavate these two wonderful archaeological sites I also plan to do a crash driving lesson course over the summer in order to learn how to drive before my final year at Leicester.
I also have plans with my friends, including a weekend in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh festival, a trip to the Isle of Skye, as well as my first visit to the Notting Hill Carnival! And in between all of this I will be starting work on my dissertation and moving into my new home for my final year at Leicester with my best friends!
I am very much looking forward to summer and everything I have planned especially spending time with my friends and hopefully finding some awesome archaeological finds!
