So now first year of uni is over and I have moved back home for summer there are so many parts of Leicester I enjoy and that I definitely miss!
One of my favourite places in the market. I believe it is on every day except Sunday and bank holidays and this is one of the reasons I think it’s great, cheap food constantly available… what more could you want! Also, it does food so cheap, they do bowls for £1 which are full of fruit and veg. I’ve saved so much money by shopping at the market and it has helped me to stay healthy too. Also within the market, there is a fish and poultry market which I can also highly recommend. A fact about Leicester market is that it is the largest indoor market in Europe!
Another of my favourite places is the Highcross. This is basically a shopping centre with everything you could need in it, Topshop, Newlook, Apple and H and M. The list is endless. Most of the places do student discount too, so it is always worth asking when you get your student card because the 10% adds up for sure. I usually use Unidays but either is great!
I also love the restaurant Kayal, it is down Granby Street so it is approx a 10-minute walk from the uni and super close to the train station so very handy for meals after a long trip. The fish curry is definitely worth a try as well as the coconut pancakes, I’m not sure if they do student discount but I promise you it is worth every penny!
Finally the Counting House, the Counting House is a must for any social. Spending your Wednesday nights with your favourite people with cheap drinks… brilliant! Even If you aren’t a drinker, they do cheap food and always show the live sports on the TV. Would fully recommend! Even better is a 5-minute walk from the Uni!
Enjoy the sunny weather we seem to be having at the mo!
