The first couple of weeks after exams are always the slight adjustment period for all students (the last thing you want after the endless work of exams is more work!)
So before I launch into any biology blogs, I thought I’d relive the other night when me and a few of the LGBTQ members went to Nottingham to give ice skating a go.
I’ve been roller skating many a time, though I only ever mastered using 4 wheeled skates than roller blades.. the thought of putting all my life on the weight of a single line of wheels was horrifying. So, the leap from roller skates to ice skates was a pretty hazardous one in my eyes. It was slow progress for me to get going on the ice, but I eventually felt the nearest thing to comfortable that I could. I lack confidence so that my right food always bends over.. the others saying I have the look of a hobbling geriatric!
We played tag & stuck in the mud (which made me feel like 5 years old), though me ice skating at speed was also a particularly hilarious sight (apparently). Fortunate that I can’t see myself skate really.
And I only fell over twice.. pretty good going really. My bum legs and ankles were severely thankful for the experience, but so was I. The varied activities within LGBTQ makes it a very fun and friendly society to be part of. I will go ice skating again, but perhaps in a few months, once my bones have recovered and am prepared to look like a humble fool again! 😀
Here is the evolution of me on ice!
