After what seemed like a lot of planning and time suddenly flying by, my two good friends got married on Saturday! I was over the moon to be one of the six bridesmaids for them, although it was a given seeing as Sammie and I have been friends since we were wee little kiddies at playgroup together. Now, we’ve all heard the saying: ‘Three times a bridesmaid, never a bride’. Yes, it was my third time as a bridesmaid so alas my prince may never come, but you gotta make sacrifices for your friends, right? I’m hoping to prove the saying wrong one day…
As Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to sports at uni (and I don’t have any sports commitments), it was the perfect opportunity for me to pop back to Nottingham for a bride and bridesmaid pamper session! We managed to keep it a surprise from the bride, enhanced because the groom thought it would be hilarious to blindfold her and drive her around for 15 minutes, so she was genuinely surprised (and very confused) when she found herself in my living room. After a lot of fake eyelashes and tanning, we were more prepared and ready for the big day to arrive.
It’s been a long while since I’ve been to a wedding, so I was a bit unsure about what to expect. I didn’t anticipate tearing up for no reason throughout the day, or being expected to make a glass of sparkling wine last through a fair few speeches, or taking on the male part in Grease’s Summer Nights. Okay that last one I’ve definitely done before. Everyone loves a wedding, right?
I couldn’t be happier for the Newlyweds, they have the most beautiful baby girl and I wish them a happy future together!
As for my current situation back at Leicester, I am extremely busy with work in the form of assessed tutorial questions, essays and lab work. I’m finally managing to get properly stuck into my lab project which I’m really happy about as I’ve realised I have greatly missed being in my lab coat with a pipette in hand. Which is probably a good thing, as I’ve now decided that I might try applying for a few PhD programmes for next year. This is something I’ll no doubt be blogging about in the future so watch this space!
