A couple of weeks ago my Mum celebrated her 50th birthday. Anyone who knows my lovely Mum will agree that she doesn’t look 50 at all! She spent her birthday on a cruise around the Bahamas having the time of her life, whilst I was spending my days in the library (life is cruel).
I’d like to continue with the Mum theme, with Mother’s Day earlier this week. Going to University is such a big transition for most of us; moving out, adjusting to a place you don’t know, trying to make new friends. For me, living in Germany was the first time I’d felt genuine homesickness, where I wanted to book a flight and come home as soon as possible. But my parents were always there to FaceTime me and assure me that things were going to be fine. I am so lucky to have such supportive parents who make me feel as though the world is my oyster and I can be whoever or do whatever I want.
Today Mum got the train to Leicester and we had a nice girlie afternoon, shopping and having lunch (plus a cheeky cocktail). It was nice to spend some time together now that I have survived my coursework deadline week (hooray). I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend spent out of the library for the first time in a while! I have now finished all of my lectures for the year, meaning that I’ll never have a lecture as an undergraduate student again!!!!!! Time has flown.
