Today is the final day of my penultimate semester and I thought I’d use this post to look back over the last three or so months!
This term has been the hardest so far in my degree, it was a big change to get used to having to fit project research in the lab around normal lectures and deadlines! I knew I had a lot of deadlines later in the term so I worked really hard to get a lot of the lab work done early on. I have spent far more time in the library than I ever have before, but I did get into the routine of getting to the library by 10am I could work for the day and then have the evenings free to do other things! I have also tried to have a lot of time off at the weekends, which I think it’s really important to have at some point in your work just to have a break and to help reduce stress.
I have enjoyed the modules I have done this term (Conservation Biology and Plant ID skills) and I really recommend picking modules that interest you in your final year – it will be a lot of work and time that you will regret if you don’t enjoy them!
I handed my final assignment this week and am looking forward to the Christmas holidays! Third year biology students don’t have January exams and I am so excited to have a holiday without having to revise! Sure I have my data to be analysing and my dissertation to be writing but it’s easier to fit these around other things.
So what else have I been up to? Well I have been as busy as ever seeing friends whenever I can, you probably know by now I love eating out and going to different bars! But a lot of my spare time has been taken up being club captain of the Equestrian and Polo Club. From Freshers right up to our final social this Wednesday there’s been a lot going on with the club! As always I love being on committee and am so glad this years committee gets on really well! This term we have been focusing on improving our training plans and coaching, I have also been managing the club social media and am trying to highlight important awareness days and charity events through this.
Tomorrow I am heading to Birmingham Christmas Market, which I haven’t been to before and I will be writing about it soon – keep an eye out for the post!
