Okay hi.
So there’s this weird tradition among societies at university, which I’ve not seen in any other part of life: the annual ball. Now I know that lots of people have prom, or something similar, when they leave school, but I never did. And I know a few different things in adult life might have a similar formal event. University is the first time I’ve really experienced something like this.
Anyway, at Leicester (and so far as I know, at most universities) , most large societies have an annual ball of some description. Last weekend, I went to the 65 year anniversary ball for the university’s rowing society (I’m not in it personally, but a few of my friends are and they asked me along).
We basically all got dressed up in suits/fancy dresses and went to a posh dinner (during which time there was also an awards ceremony). It was just a really nice, and slightly different, way to spend an evening with friends. And it was a lot of fun.
Loveyoubye
Only one last year with the Chemistry society, which was a bit surreal because (as is apparently tradition) several lecturers were also present.
I also went to that, glad you enjoyed it! Have you been to balls with any other societies?
