Ever since GCSEs, these few months of essays and deadlines are always the most stressful, but last night my housemates and I took a break at a local gathering of free books and music. Held at the Donkey bar, it was an opportunity to explore more of Leicester’s pub scene while browsing (free!) books and listening to the live band. It was also pretty nice to see and meet more students after days of living as a recluse surrounded only by books and notes.
While many stayed to grab a drink in the Donkey, it got pretty busy so my friends and I wondered down to the Dry Dock (my first time sober) and spent an hour relaxing before returning home to face the stress again. Odd little events in Leicester like this are the type of thing I love at peak times of stress. As much as my mind is telling me to work at all hours, little breaks especially out of the house refresh your mind so much and keep your sanity in check.
