Freshers Fair runs from 10am – 4pm on Monday and Tuesday of the first week of Freshers and it’s the perfect time to chat to people, get to know what this society thing is all about, and grab yourself some discounts and usually free pizza!
I’ve yet to meet anyone (including Second and Third Years) who hasn’t signed up to nearly everything on offer at Freshers Fair and that’s just because everything is so exciting. It’s not just because it’s all part of the fresh, new experience of going to uni, every opportunity genuinely is pretty great.
I missed Freshers Fair last year (my second year) due to being on Study Abroad, but I went today and I’ve got myself some pretty fabulous freebies and discounts including Starbucks, Costa, gym, Dominos and Morrisons discounts, and great opportunities to try out some new societies. We also bought some Paintball tickets at an amazing discount only available at Freshers Fair!
As someone who has already been a member of the Cheer and Stunt Society (which is amazing and I fully recommend), I’m now looking for some new and potentially less time consuming things to try. Since going to Freshers Fair, I’ve managed to get a ton more information about Pole Fitness and the Hiking Society, which particularly interest me.
But Freshers Fair is not just for discounts, free pizza, and information about societies. Today I got to speak to the Pro Bono Group and the Howard League for Penal Reform Group about volunteering opportunities that will be particularly interesting for Criminology and Law students. It may just be the fact I missed it in First Year, but I don’t remember these stands being there when I went to Freshers Fair as a Fresher, so going this time round gave me some great, new information!
