Aloha!

Hello! This is my very first blog post and it’s only fitting that I introduce myself. My name is Larona and I am a going to be a third year BSc Economics student come this October. I am so excited to share my experiences about student life in Leicester with you all and I hope you will stick with me throughout this whole journey. Since I am an international student, some of my posts will be centred on adjusting to life in England (I have only been here for two years). I do not enjoy being idle hence my involvement in so many extra-curricular activities. At the moment I am a student ambassador, Economics Peer Mentor and up until this past semester, the Publicity Officer of the Economics Society. Being part of the Economics Society Committee was a wonderful experience and also a great addition to my CV. I am also actively involved in the Traders and Investors Society and in the establishment of a new society called YALDA which I will be mentioning quite a lot in the future.

Outside of school I enjoy reading, writing and a bit of travelling. This is my first summer in the UK and I am spending most of it in my favourite city; London as a summer intern. I was able to find and secure this internship with the help of the Economics Department and the Career Service Development. It’s only been two weeks but I am already loving it! I think that’s enough about me for today (hopefully it wasn’t too boring) and I am looking forward to all your questions and comments!
