So this weekend one of Leicesterโs biggest free festivals featuring activities on and off the water took place at Bede Park. Of course I had to go and explore since I could hear the loud music from my flat. Apparently there was live music and different bands playing and covering songs.
There were a lot of people selling arts and crafts, street entertainers and of course colorful boats from across the region, canoe demonstrations and boat trips. There were also lots of food stunts and ice cream trucks. It was so crowded but I really enjoyed it because the weather was really good and I was with lots of friends and it reminded me that summer is here even though it took a while ๐ I can’t really tell that next week it won’t start raining again but for now I can definitely say that Leicester feels summery and I love it. We bought food from the festival and sat by the river to eat and enjoy the sun, then we had the idea of going to Nelson Mandela park and play basketball even though we are all pretty terrible ๐
It was a productive day and felt really nice to be surrounded by lots of friends and enjoining the good weather together. It kind of reminded me of summer back home even though here it wasn’t that hot and there was a river instead of a beach ๐ Today though, I’m staying in and doing work since I need to submit my dissertation poster where I’m gonna present it at a mini-conference on the 18th and I’ll probably make a post about it soon so keep an eye for it.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this beautiful picture of the Riverside Festival that my cousin took yesterday ๐
