The Last Post

Now that I’ve graduated it’s time for me to say goodbye to being a student blogger!

For my last post I thought I’d tell you a little about what’s next for me…

Work!

After induction last week I started working as a Materials Research Engineer. I can’t tell you what I’ll be working on (how cool is that!?) but expect to see it on some really awesome cars in a few years time! The general aim is to make cars as light as possible so you need less energy to make them move. This in turn leads to a smaller engine being necessary so the cars are more environmentally friendly. Not bad for a job!

Work is everything I expected.

Early starts, early nights. Coffee galore to take you through the meetings (I had a seven hour meeting the other day). Mostly people who are older than me and male.

It’s also everything I didn’t expect.

Where I am there is a great graduate network. People have been meeting up every day since we started and there isn’t any sign of that stopping any time soon. It’s like being a student again but now we have money. My social life is better than it was at university!

All in all, I’m sad to have left university and my friends but really, hugely excited for the future.

Thank you for reading this blog and I hope you have as great a next few years as I think I’ll have! Don’t forget to keep reading all about Engineering and Leicester at Jamie H’s fabulous blog here.

Good bye and good luck!
