It’s the start of a new term, exams are all finished and my interim report is completed and submitted, so I can finally have a little breather. I’m happy with how all my exams went and I don’t feel I could have done much more than I did, so hopefully that will show when I get my results in a few weeks’ time!
With the start of the new term there was as usual another refreshers fair, which offered everyone the chance to have another browse of the great societies and sports the University has to offer. Hopefully if you didn’t join anything back in October you took up the chance now to try out something new this term. I was involved in the fair today helping to promote a new sports scheme that I have just got involved with called, Lets Do Leicester. The idea behind it is make sports more accessible for everyone. Normally to join a sports team with the university you have to pay a signup fee (which is still minimal considering everything you get from joining) but you also need a gym membership. It’s the gym membership that makes it a bit pricey and, can understandably put people off. Let’s do Leicester skips out the need for expensive memberships and offers you coached sporting sessions for a maximum of £1!
This is a great opportunity to get into sport and keep your fitness up, many of the sessions are in fact free to attend and there is no commitment to attending every session, just come along when you fancy it. There is a lot to choose from including, swimming, football, badminton, basketball, running, dance and even wheelchair basketball (not many places will let you try this one out for free). Give us a like on our Facebook page or a follow on twitter under let’s do Leicester where you can find all the information on times and locations of the sessions run. I’ll be running the football sessions on a Saturday and Sunday, so come down and take part, hope to see you there!
