So I got some feedback on my post about the library saying there were a couple of mistakes, so in this post I’m just quickly going to clear them up.
I said that the library has a café, but I should make it clear that the whole building is called the David Wilson Library and the library café is inside, but it is not actually inside the turnstiles where the books are- coffee and books is probably a recipe for disaster! By the way, if you end up in the library café I highly recommend the hot chocolate, I don’t know what it is they do but it tastes different to normal hot chocolate- in a good way.
I also said that the library has a bookshop– again, it is in the library building but pre-turnstile- and I said that it was a Waterstones. Well, turns out I was mistaken! Despite being in my 4th year at Leicester and having spent a significant proportion of that time in the library, it has literally never crossed my mind that it wasn’t a Waterstones. I have no idea what made me think it was a Waterstones when actually it’s not. So there we go, I’ve learned something new today! It’s actually the university bookshop, which is great because it specifically stocks the books required for courses, and it’ll order books in for you as well- I read a sign yesterday that said they could get the book in 24 hours, which would be pretty handy! It also sells non-course related books, university memorabilia (now including University of Leicester pyjamas!), stationary… actually I think what may have tricked me into thinking that it was a Waterstones is that it also sells those pretty patterned fancy notebooks that Waterstones do. So yes, the university library building has a bookshop and it is as good as Waterstones, but is not, in fact, a Waterstones.
Ok well that’s that, have a lovely weekend! 🙂
