Well that’s it, I’ve left Leicester for the last time as an undergrad. I’m writing this from my room at home, surrounded by student debris and thinking how on earth is this going to fit in here properly?! Things that I learnt from leaving Leicester include:
Saying bye can be really, really hard. You make some of the best friends and you’re lucky enough to share a house with some and live round the corner from the rest, and then all of a sudden time’s up and you all scatter across the UK! I know I’ll stay in contact with a lot of people, but I’ll still miss having them on my doorstep.
When the cleaning list from your landlord states “ensure you leave at least 2 days to clean the oven”… FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS! I ended up using two cans of cleaning spray and orange sludge/chargrilled god-knows-what just kept on coming!
If you’re going to pack a microwave to bring home, definitely remember to clean it first; otherwise you might end up with gross juices from yester-year trickling out of the microwave and onto the immaculate car seats of your Mum’s car… Speaking from experience, it doesn’t go down too well!
So, armed with those new-found life lessons, I’ve headed back home for a month. The exam board meeting to finalise our grades happened on Friday, so I should be finding out what degree classification I’ve got any time now. I’m currently finishing my scholarship application- side note, the careers service is really good if you have a specific problem/need a specific thing looking over- and I’ll be looking for part time jobs back in Leicester to fund my Masters. So I’ll be back soon, hopefully able to tell you what my grade is!
