I don’t really go along with the whole ‘new year, new me’ rubbish, if you want to change something then there is no point waiting in my opinion. However, this year I decided to make the most of the new year and set myself a few goals for my last few months at uni (that aren’t ‘eat healthy’ ‘drink less alcohol, more water’ etc) in the form of a list, who doesn’t love a good list, eh?
- Read more of what I what I want to read: as an English student, I read so much, but most of this is classic literature that I wouldn’t pick up on an every day basis otherwise. I want to make more time in my weekly schedule to read basically anything I feel like, as a way to relax and not focus on uni work. I’m taking part in the Goodreads 2018 reading challenge, my aim is 40 books, which I don’t think will be too hard considering I’m reading books for my course as well as the fact that I want to work in the publishing industry (if you couldn’t tell I love books)
- Smash my assignments/exams: I’ve worked really hard this past semester and I’ve been really enjoying my course, I’ve put so much work into my assignments and revision so it would be really great if I could start 2018 on a good note and do well.
- Sort my overdraft out: I don’t think this one needs any explanation, says worried 3rd year.
- Get a job: This is my last and definitely most important, as publishing is a very competitive field, I worry quite frequently about getting a job (and I’m not one for settling). My biggest aim for this year is to get into the world of work in a entry-level publishing job, or internship, I’ll definitely be making lots of appointments with the careers department.
Let me know what your new years goals/resolutions are!
