Vintage shopping is great for a number of reasons, you find unique pieces noone else is likely to own, fairly reasonably priced (sometimes) and sifting through all the mismatch of items can be so fun. When I came to Leicester I didn’t realise how many great vintage shops there would be, until I started walking to the city centre and would walk past a range of ones that looked so cool. To keep it easier I decided to talk about the vintage shops in the lanes as I prefer to go into a few in one trip, a bit like a bar crawl for vintage shops!
Pink Pigeon, Silver Street
Pink Pigeon is one of the quirkier of the vintage shops I’ve been into, they have such bold and unique pieces. Better yet they have a floor for individually priced pieces and then their upstairs is dedicated to their £15 a kilo offer, making it so much more reasonably priced. Definitely one to explore if you’re looking to stand out.
The Wardrobe, Silver Street
This one is great for all sorts, the selection of men and women’s clothes is great. For women definitely great for the cutest pinafores and skirts, as well as doing a great selection of old school band tees. They also do a great variety of quirky little gifts which are so cute, with a lot being Moomin themed.
The Vintage Scene, Silver Street
The decor of the Vintage Scene is so bright and colourful. Again, they do a great selection of clothes but my faves from this shop are definitely their knitted jumpers and sweatshirts, their amazing range of colourful shoes and their renewal items, such as vintage Ralph Lauren shirts.
Harper and Lewis, Highcross
Although I’m pretty sure Harper and Lewis isn’t actually a vintage shop, it’s got a lot of vintage styled pieces and some of their stuff is really quirky. Although you aren’t getting a unique piece its great if you just want that overall vintage look or just to add something a bit different that you wouldn’t find in other high street shops.
The best thing about all these shops is that you can just pop in on your way to Leicester City Centre, making it super convenient and easy. Hope you enjoy trying out some of these places! Also, keep an eye out on Facebook because there are often vintage fairs going on in the city too.
