With just over two weeks to go until the end of the semester (Where has the time gone?!), everyone, including me, are literally drowning in deadlines, and of course all the other work we need to do. Don’t get me wrong, I’m keeping on top of it, but I can’t deny a de-stress every once in a while is more than needed! So, I thought I’d write a little bit about my favourite places to eat around Leicester, when taking some time away from the books.
Quite a generic one to start; TGIs is a American diner style restaurant, with plenty of choice, from burgers and hot-dogs, to fajitas and salads. TGIs is a chain restaurant, so you can generally find one in every city you go to, but with consistently great service and reasonable prices the TGIs in High Cross food court is really worth a try. And of course, the cocktails are wonderful if you’re not feeling too hungry.
Located on London Road, conveniently close to University Road in fact, Heavenly Desserts is rather self-explanatory! Serving desserts all day long, this place is perfect for a sweet treat, or a quick catch up with friends after a lecture. Always go with an appetite and you can’t go wrong…and they even do Deliveroo, no need to leave your sofa, so even more incentive to give them a try.
The Dove is a traditional English pub, with many pub classics, as well as some other favourite British dishes. A good one to go with families, with a quiet but friendly atmosphere, it’s a lovely place for visiting relatives. The Dove is particularly perfect for those currently living in Oadby Student village, with it being in Evington, less than a ten minute drive away.
Nawaaz Indian Restaurant:
Just go on TripAdvisor; you’ll soon see why I’m giving this a mention! Probably the most affordable of all the restaurants I’ve mentioned, this place is perfect for anyone who loves a curry. A good selection of menu options, and again located on London Road, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Coast to Coast:
Another chain restaurant in High Cross, but still just as good! The most expensive on the list, it’s probably worth budgeting for this one, but well worth it when you’ve got the cash. American food galore, with deep fried mac’n’cheese balls, what could be better?! I’d also highly recommend the cheesecake, if you’ve got a sweet tooth. A place me and my family enjoy going to, when they’re visiting, I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a treat.
So, there you go, a few new suggestions for your restaurant bucket list. Let me know if you’ve ever visited these, or will go out of my recommendation; I can’t wait to hear from you.
