For all of us third years, our dissertations have finally been handed in. It is a massive relief, as we’ve all been working so hard on them, especially over the last few weeks. We hand one electronic copy in online, and have to get two copies printed and bound – that makes it look good, which is nice for something you have put some much time and effort into. These two copies go to each of the two staff members who mark our dissertations.
I went home this weekend for my mum’s birthday, so couldn’t celebrate with my friends upon handing it in last week, but as the actual deadline was yesterday (Tuesday 25th) we celebrated then. The geography committee had organised for a post-dissertation party in the geography department, where there was free wine, beer and pizza. They had also organised a mid-term/dissertation survival bar crawl last night, which was for all geography students, although it was dominated by third years celebrating their dissertations being over!
It was great to let our hair down a bit and relax after weeks of hard work, and I am pleased that my dissertation is finished and handed in! But it doesn’t really mean I can have a break; I have 4 pieces of written coursework this semester, and one presentation and exam after the Easter holidays, so I really need to start working on research for those now! Third year definitely doesn’t let up on the work load…
