Last Friday night was the geology ball, an annual event put on by the PCSB Geology Society which is a highlight of the society calendar. Students from all year groups and staff come together and dress up in their finery for an evening to celebrate the past year. It’s nice to see everyone dressed up and wearing something other than the usual checked shirts and fleeces which are a common sight amongst a lot of geologists!
The ball was held at The City Rooms, a Grade 1 listed Georgian building in the city centre with a grand ballroom. After a drinks reception and a three course meal, prizes were awarded for the best dressed (decided by a vote) and we were treated to a performance by the excellent University of Leicester Big Band followed by a disco. There was also a photobooth which me and my friends made good use of, with varying degrees of sabotage as the night went on. We’ve got a few too many photos with stray hands or extra faces in the background!
I’m sure that everyone who went will agree with me in saying that it was a fantastic occasion and the PCSB society committee did a great job of organising the evening!
