This quote may not really be about history, but I think it is something every historian has to consider. It is a bit like my Joan Bakewell quote from a few weeks ago, but said in a way that really made me think differently. This quote is from Ken Kesey’s ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, and is one of my favourite ever quotes because I think it says so much about the story, but also about how people see life.
‘it’s the truth even if it didn’t happen’
History is not only about the facts, but what people say about it, and it is important when studying History to consider everyone’s point of view to get a well rounded perspective.
