Last night was the Leicester University Music Association annual ball.
My housemate and I both put down the laptops, tidied away the books and at 6pm sharp we were busy getting ready. We ordered taxis and by 6.45pm our house was full of musicians waiting for taxis. It took 3 taxis but eventually we arrived at the Mercure Hotel.
After sneakily hiding the flowers purchased for LUMA’s Social Sec, we wobbled our way in our high heels and fancy dresses to the function room.
The evening went as follows: a drinks reception, photographs (Concert Band, Big Band, Big Band committee, History students…the list goes on!), a 3 course meal (goats cheese tart, chicken and veg, and a chocolate pudding), announcing the awards (congratulations to our Librarian who snagged the Big Band award!), and finally, and most importantly, the disco.
I can honestly say that last night was one the of the best nights of my life with a fantastic bunch of people. I couldn’t have asked for better! I have complete confidence that whoever takes over as President next year will do a cracking job and music will continue to thrive at Leicester! I have had a fantastic time with my fellow musicians – my university experience was enhanced no end by their company. What a lovely bunch of people and a fantastic night!
Thank you, LUMA.
