I’ve had a lot of fun so far in summer, as you’ve seen from my last post. I also went to see Take That at the o2 Arena this month, so that was also a definite highlight.
And I’m also going to see Sam Smith next week with my parents – so it’s a good summer for music!
But it’s not all fun, fun, fun. As soon as I got back to England after I started the job search and signed up with a number of agencies to help me get a temporary summer job.
Summer is a great time to work and gain valuable skills and experience – especially if you want to get into a particular profession or work environment. For example, the sort of work I want to do is office based, so I’ve secured a full time administration role within an office so I can get a feel for the sort of environment and hours that I might work in once I graduate.
Making sure I graduate is also a key thing – so I’ve got to start researching for my dissertation this summer, to make sure it’s of the highest quality so I can get the first class degree I’ve been dreaming of.
I have all the books I need, including possibly the largest book of primary sources I have ever seen (!), now I’ve just got to wade through them… Which I’m currently preparing myself for mentally.
It’s going to be a long and hard summer, but it’ll all be worth it in the end! And hopefully it will be broken up with some sun (possibly?) and friends!
I hope you all enjoy your summers as much as I’m hoping to enjoy mine 🙂
