There’ll be a moral in here somewhere. Something about never passing up the opportunity to go to a pub.
If the notion of vegetarianism angers you, this is your trigger warning.
I’ll admit I’m not strictly vegetarian. I never really learnt how to cook meat, so at uni I’m pretty good. Unfortunately my brother thinks he’ll actually die if he doesn’t eat at least one entire cow a day, so at home this doesn’t really work. Please don’t judge. I make my own rules &c.
A few of my friends, however, are actually better than me at upholding their values, so much so that a couple of them have decided to restart the vegan and vegetarian soc this year.
Now the first preliminary gathering just to see how many people were interested was in The Lasdowne (nice pub, bit pricey, vegan brownies) so I went along to show support &c. At some point in the evening Rita (now prez 2K16) bounced up to me and asked if I wanted to be on the committee. I said yes. Which might have been a stupid idea but I guess we’ll see. At least now I have another reason to stick to the shaky morality I try to employ. I’ve never held any kind of power over a student body before now. It’s kind of heady, even though all I’m doing is posting stuff on Facebook. Let me have my power complex.
I suppose my point is take up opportunities when they come, because good things are more likely to happen than if you don’t. Also meat is expensive. Do with that information what you will.

Great article. Thanks!
