So Vegan and Vegetarian Soc had a stall at Refresher’s Fair (If you don’t know what this is, it’s like Fresher’s Fair at the beginning of term all over again) and it was the first time I’ve ever been on a society stall. I actually had a great time talking to everyone walking past. We were giving out fruit we got cheap at the market, and I may have gained a lot of tangerines.
Just wandering around all the different stalls was fun. I talked to the people at Indonesian Soc and ended up with a key ring after playing an instrument I’d never seen before, and got as many stickers and stationary as possible. There’s not really another setting in which you can walk around a room and be bombarded by people that are really enthusiastic about an activity. It’s nice. I signed up for a couple of societies I didn’t know existed, including a Debating society, which I think is new. I used to do something with the Debating soc about three times a week in sixth form. I stopped for two years, but now I’ve gone back to it. I’m so excited, it’s like an addiction.
I’ve decided that even after I leave uni I’ll join as many societies and groups as possible. You can’t really beat getting together with people and doing something nice you all love.
