Well hello there! It’s been a busy few weeks but I’ve found some time to sit down and tell you about the first few weeks of term.
As some of you will know, I am now in my second year of studying history of art and we are really starting to get into some serious academic stuff!
Where as the first year was very much based around looking at and interpreting images, this year is reading, reading, and more reading. Everything from medieval contracts to avant-garde manifestos to art criticism, to criticism of the art criticism and art historical comparisons between criticisms of the art criticism.
Is is crazy. But I am loving it. There’s nothing better than going into a class feeling like you’re going to be lost and engaging and battling your way through really difficult texts and coming out the other side feeling like you conquered the beast.
Even though it’s tough going, like so many things in life if you take your time, engage your brain and arm yourself with a hot beverage, you will achieve fantastic things.
Although today’s post has been short and sweet, I’d like to give a shout-out to the History of Art society for hosting an awesome bar crawl last Wednesday, we held our own among some of the bigger societies and a great time was had by all!
How have your first weeks been? Is anything awesome going on? Maybe theres a class that you are hating right now. Let me know in the comments secton below!
Thank you so much for reading, I’ll see you again soon.
