So, I’ve officially moved back up north, after my first year of university; granted it has taken me nearly a week to fully unpack but everything is certainly feeling like home again. However, in the past week, I’ve discovered just how busy I was at university and, well, how ‘unbusy’ I am now. Don’t get me wrong, I love being back with my family, but there’s only so many times you can help out with the menial household chores before the novelty of inactivity wears off. Things haven’t exactly gone the way I planned; I’ve been searching for summer jobs for weeks, with no success, and have come to find that I’ve come home a lot earlier than my friends at other universities. So, as surprising as it is to me, I’ve become rather attached to something I honestly thought I hated…going to the gym…regularly.
Hear me out, I know it’s only been just over a week, but in this time I’ve gone from never stepping foot in a gym to going five days of this week. It’s fair to point out that a year of university life has really messed with my exercising and eating habits, in mostly negative ways: Eating at sporadic times and spending far too much time at my desk. The concept of the gym used to intimidate me, and it still does in some ways, but I feel like this is definitely a personal project to work on over the next few months; and hopefully bringing forward a better routine into my second year of university. I’m sure I’ll keep you updated on any progress…or rather I’ll let you know if I have any particular failures; but for now I’m feeling motivated and ready to make some changes.
Do let me know if you have any summer projects; best of luck with any of your ventures!
