As the end of the year draws closer things are getting pretty busy for me as an IScience student. Our final module fits rather compactly into this last term and so I am pretty hard at work (despite the distracting nature of the beautiful sunshine!). It was therefore a nice surprise last week when my housemate reminded me that, a long time ago, we had bought tickets to go see Gary Numan at the Students Union! It was on the same day as my Viva (my 30 minute presentation of my third year project) which was pretty scary so it was a nice reward.
Leicester was the opening night of his Machine Music tour and he hasn’t played in Leicester for a long time so it was quite exciting. I really enjoyed the evening, he did a good set with a mixture of older and newer stuff which was nice. Also, my housemate is a MASSIVE Numan fan so actually, one of the best parts was seeing her happy face 😀
Previously, I had been to see two acts in the Students Union O2 Academy venue. I saw Feeder at the Summer Ball last year and, most recently, I went to see a Scottish pirate metal band Alestorm. I find the Students Union is a really nice venue and I am looking forward to going to see more events there in the future!
Also, for those of you who are not too familiar with Gary Numan, he is (in the words of my housemate!) “an 80s synth God gone dark”! Go check him out! 🙂 Some of his most famous songs are ‘Are ‘Friends’ Electric‘ and ‘Cars‘ from the late 70s early 80s. Enjoy!
