In a typical IScience week, I normally attend a four hour lab session every Wednesday morning. Our lab sessions vary between physics, biology, chemistry and geology labs so there can be a lot of variation from one week to another. Most commonly we are in the physics labs doing various different physics, computing and sometimes geology labs, although we do normally spend a whole term in the chemistry building doing chemistry labs.
Although I have always been a fan of lab work and therefore my lab sessions, my favourite labs are normally biology labs. My labs this week and last week have therefore been very enjoyable for me as we have been doing some molecular genetics lab work over in the medical sciences building. It has been really fun although the lab was pretty warm with all this sunshine we have been having! Another of our bioloy labs that I really enjoyed was last year during our forensics module, we got to spend a couple of days over in the hospital doing genetic fingerprinting.
Unfortunately my lab today was the last lab of the year and I am going into my Masters year next year and so labs are not quite going to be the same again! However, hopefully I will get the chance to do some biology lab work next year and maybe even over the summer!
