It has been more than a week now since the various University of Leicester graduation ceremonies took place and the period of graduation seems to be coming to a close around the UK in general now. A large number of my friends, both here in Leicester and around the country, have graduated this year so it has been a pretty exciting time!
I personally did not get to graduate this year and so the graduation ceremony itself is still some what of a mystery to me. However, I did head into Uni on the day of our department’s graduation and so I got to see the campus flooded with people in their graduation gowns with their proud family members and friends. The graduation ceremony actually takes place in the nearby De Montfort Hall but most departments hold a little celebration/reception for their graduates as well.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy (which is where the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science is situated) held a reception and so I did get to attend that. I got the chance to congratulate many of my fellow students and find out what lots of them were planning to do next! I was also quite pleased to discover that I had won a departmental prize and so in the end, even though I wasn’t a graduate, I did still have to have my picture taken. . .
Just one more year now until I get to wear my own graduation gown and hat. If the last three years are anything to go by it will feel like no time at all!
