It has been two years now since I first moved into a rented house with four of my fellow Uni students. Although I loved being in halls (everything was so easy!) I would say I have enjoyed being in my house even more. I enjoyed the close friend feel that I found with my house, for example cooking dinner for each other if one of us had had a particularly busy day at work or Uni. I always felt looked after by my housemates and hopefully I did the same for them 🙂 However, as some of my house mate’s time on their courses came to an end this year I have had to move out into a new house. Luckily two of my housemates are also staying around for another year and so we got together with another of my friends to form a new house group!
We had got in touch with out current landlords through the list of approved landlords that is published by the University Students Union back in first year. They had been really wonderful for us for the time in which we have been their tenants so earlier this year we decided that we would find our next house with them too. We found a house we really liked and we were all under the impression that it wouldn’t be until late August before we had to move over so we were all a bit peeved to find out that they wanted us to move out before the end of July.
Despite that annoyance though the move did go pretty well in the end. Yesterday, my father very kindly brought up a van for us and helped us shuffle everything over all day. Our new house is not too far away from our original house but I don’t think we could have managed without his help! I hope I don’t take too long unpacking all of my stuff into my new room but I find it so difficult to motivate myself! It is okay, my excuse for today is that my arms are killing me from lifting lots of really heavy boxes yesterday. . . I will start properly sorting out tomorrow. . .
