Song by the Barenaked Ladies this week. It’s okay, I’m allowed to write that as it is the name of a band. 😉
Lots of topics I could have written about, but here instead is some snaps from the past week or so.
TUESDAY 6th NOVEMBER:
– This was a very important day – I stayed up to watch the US Election – there was a Politics Society event hosted at a local pub in Leicester, which is called The Loaded Dog – Just look who I managed to bump into!!
– But prior to this, I had a little dinner party for my friends (American themed, with hot dogs, nachos, apple pie etc…) This was the decorations I put up…
– My friend Henry was a big fan of the decorations:
WEDNESDAY 7TH NOVEMBER:
– This was a quiet day (mostly full of lectures and doing some part-time work), so came home to a nice dessert. As I don’t eat apple pie, we filled it with strawberries instead…! Students never waste food!
THURSDAY 8TH NOVEMBER:
– Did a bit of shopping in Leicester City Centre, saw a beautiful sunset….
FRIDAY 9TH NOVEMBER:
– Though of course, being English weather, one day pretty, the next day on campus….
SATURDAY 10TH NOVEMBER:
– This was an exciting day, I did some part time work as a University of Leicester Ambassador (we work giving campus tours and helping out on university-based events – a great way to earn some money alongside your studies and teaches you great communication skills, which is perfect for Law!) and I worked at the Literary Leicester festival. Here, my friend Georgina and I had to help dress up someone as a bear for a book reading for children!
– I may have tried the head on myself too…..
SUNDAY 11TH NOVEMBER:
– This day, I learned that you should NEVER try to beat a Canadian at Air Hockey…!
MONDAY 12TH NOVEMBER:
– After a long day of reading and dissertation work, I was happy to come home and find out my housemate had made cookies!
TUESDAY 13TH NOVEMBER:
– This was Leicester City Council’s Diwali Festival – one of the biggest outside of India! It really was a beautiful night with fireworks, food and friends.
(I didn’t get any photos of the fireworks as my camera isn’t quite THAT good)
WEDNESDAY 14TH NOVEMBER:
– One extra day added to my “week in the life of Harriet” as the University of Leicester Law Society’s Law Fair was today – loads of major firms and Law School providers (for post graduate study etc) came on campus for the students. It was a great event, organised by our solicitor’s representatives. I managed to talk to a few people about my applications to study the Bar course and managed to blag a few free mugs, highlighters, pens and sweeties!
