This weekend was the first of many ‘lasts’ of my time here at Leicester. It’s quite sad to think there are so many things which I’ve enjoyed so much and which have made my time here so brilliant but I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to do them.
The weekend itself was as good as ever. I swam one event on the Saturday this year (pre-night out!) which provided me with something to focus on in training and we had a great night out on the Saturday night along with lots of other swim teams. It’s also a great chance just to get out of the Leicester ‘bubble’ and spend some time away from work and the library!
I’d strongly, strongly, strongly advise people to get involved in sports and societies at university. They are very well funded, provide a great chance to meet new people (particularly from other years) and offer opportunities to do things like the Sheffield trip. Also, I’ve noticed whilst going through the job application process that those who you meet at interviews often have a very good and broad range of extra curricular activities to their name.
Now, with BUCS out of the way it’s just about training for one last training push in order to beat DMU in the annual Varsity matches!
