Hello everyone!
Over the past week I have gone from 0 to 60 miles per hour in preparation for the 2013 Fresher Fair that is starting tomorrow.
For anyone who doesn’t really know what this is – a ‘Fresher Fair’ is an event put on by your University’s Student Union to introduce new students to the various organisations, societies and clubs that are on offer at your University. The Fair is simply a part of the ‘Fresher Week’ experience that gives new students (and even us returning students) an opportunity to meet new people that are perhaps outside the course you are studying or not staying with you in halls/student accommodation.
At the University of Leicester, I have to admit, there are so many societies and clubs to join! There is even a Quidditch society, which clearly shows there really is something for everyone! I might, however, start a motion for creating a Beyoncé Appreciation society because I believe there is a real demand and who would not want that? 😉
Beyoncé society plans aside, I realise that unlike the new ‘freshman’ students that will be starting at the University of Leicester tomorrow, I won’t be spending the day looking at all the stalls and seeing what’s on offer.
Instead, I’ll be on the other side, speaking to all you lovely new students about the Unicef society! I’m the Vice-President of the UNICEF on Campus society and I am chomping at the bit to tell everyone about this brilliant society and the many interesting plans and ideas we have in store for fundraising … Man Auction anyone? 😉
Oh, I think this year is going to be brilliant and I cannot wait to get back!!!
Speak to you all soon!
Zara 🙂
