Now I’ll be the first to admit that Leicester is not one of the most renown cities in all of the UK. Nonetheless, Leicester is a very lively city with a lot to offer so in this post I’ll be revealing some of the places I like to visit!
1. HIGHCROSS
Highcross Leicester is Leicester’s main shopping centre which has a Showcase Cinema De Lux, a range of designer and high street stores as well as restaurants which is brilliant for me (but less though for my bank account!)
2. DE MONTFORD HALL
De Montford Hall is a music and performance venue where many famous artists and comedians put on successful shows. Its also the place where graduation ceremonies take place for all the University of Leicester’s graduates.
3. THE GOLDEN MILE
The Golden Mile refers to a stretch of Belgrave Road which is home to a variety of Indian restaurants, sari shops and jewellers. The best time, however, to visit the Golden Mile is during Diwali which is one of the biggest Diwali celebrations outside India!!!
4. THE UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER HAROLD MARTIN BOTANIC GARDEN
The University of Leicester is lucky enough to have one of its own botanic gardens close to the halls of residence in Oadby. Many students like to, in the summer, have picnics or catch up with readings and its a great place to relax with friends. Also, every year the annual sculpture exhibition, ‘Sculpture in the Garden’ is held and throughout the summer there will be summer painting classes and free sculpture workshops!
If you have any questions about Leicester and the city, I’d be happy to answer any questions.
Until next time …
Zara 🙂
