As you have probably gathered from my posts from the past year, I am a commuting student. However, when people find out that I do commute, I often find myself reassuring them, that even as a commuter, you can have a brilliant University experience.
I speak to many people who appear quite apprehensive at the prospect of commuting. Last year, I put forward my opinion from my personal experience in All About Commuting. There, I emphasised whether you commute or not, there is definitely no ‘normal’ student experience. In all honesty, your University life is what you decide to make of it! Make sure you take a look at the post to find out my answers to whether you can make friend, miss out on anything and whether you can be independent.
Personally, I feel that I get the best of both worlds; from being able to be involved in societies and spending time with friends, I really do experience the same aspects of University life that everyone else enjoys whilst also having the comfort of coming home to my own room!
If you would like some helpful tips I have learnt about commuting, take a look at some posts I did earlier this year:
Tales of a Commuter: Part One (Commuting by Train)
Tales of a Commuter: Part Two (Commuting by Car)
I hope that this has been helpful insight for any of you who have been contemplating commuting. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them so please comment in the box below.
Zara 🙂
