After a pretty stressful Christmas holiday consisting of practically non-stop studying punctuated with a grand total of 2 evenings out with my friends from home, the day of our long awaited Frankfurt Summer School reunion was finally upon us!
We decided to meet in Prague; the city in which one of our group studies Law at Charles University:
Prague is an absolutely beautiful city and we were lucky enough to experience it in the snow:
We ate lots of local dishes and couldn’t get over how nice the beer was!
We also sampled the night life and visited a great 80’s bar playing English 80’s classics as well as a Slovakian tune that everyone in the room joined in for! My friend remarked that she loves that there are some songs that cross countries and cultures – referring in this case to Dancing Queen by Abba – because they bring us all together.
As well as walking along the Charles Bridge and taking a trip up to Prague castle, we also paid a visit to the Museum of Communism which was really interesting and brought my A level history revision bubbling back to the surface.
We toasted to international relations 😉 and laughed and talked for hours on end. It was so wonderful to see them again and it felt like no time at all had passed since we were last together. Blueprints are being drawn up for our next catch up; this time the plan is to head to Moscow to reunite with my wonderful Russian roommate.
I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to take part in the Frankfurt Summer School, both because I learnt a great deal and made some lifelong friends. So I would definitely recommend checking out the many and varied opportunities the Law School at University of Leicester has to offer during your time here, it is absolutely worth it! 🙂
Hope you are all well and looking forward to the semester ahead! I’ve got lots of interesting topics coming up which I’ll be blogging about in the coming months so watch this space.
