So in my last post, you may have noticed that one of the best ways to celebrate the end of exams is you find a nice bar to spend your evenings in. And whilst I am partial to London – it’s definitely my location of choice for drinks – Leicester also has some rather great places to grab a drink. I’m going to tell you about three, all of varying price points.
Revolution £-££
This is the classic, go to bar for most students. It’s where you go for pitchers or cocktails – maybe for pre’s, or even a Saturday night out. And the cocktails are good; the menu is seasonal so there will definitely be a plethora of summer drinks to quench your thirst. It’s the most basic of the bars on this list, but it will certainly suffice and satisfy, definitely if you’re looking for something a little cheaper [especially if you invest in one of their loyalty cards]
The Cosy Club ££
This is a lovely little bar, right next to high cross. Definitely perfect for you, if the crowd at Revolution isn’t really your scene. It’s definitely got a slightly more mature vibe, and by mature, I just mean early to mid-twenties. Everyone will definitely be a little better dressed here than in Revolution.
Plus the ambience of this place is perfect. It has a very rustic, with almost a boutique feel. Plenty of windows and skylights make it a dream to have celebratory summer drinks in – it can almost feel like you’re in London.
As for the drinks themselves, I think they’re fantastic. They definitely stick more to the traditional drinks, or twists on these, than crazy new contemporary concoctions. But personally, I actually think this is nice, and they do them very well. My personal favourite is the Grapefruit and Orange Margarita, though their G&T is also a classic.
The Bottle Garden – ££-£££
Prepare to have all you Instagram dreams fulfilled because this place is gorgeous. It already has the plus of being in the rather lovely St Martins Square, but the inside is where the magic happens. Filled with plumes of Tumblr-esque greens plants, aesthetically pleasing décor and wallpaper, and laced with reels of fairy lights, this is the perfect evening bar. It will make you feel as though you’ve been transported to a magical land, laden with perfectly shaken drinks. And, as a bonus, it will do numbers for your insta.
The drinks here are a good mix of classic and new, with an incredibly wide range of types of cocktails. My go-to here is the Pornstar Martini – it comes topped with a whole passionfruit, and a side of prosecco to wash it down with. This bar is also rather nice in the fact that you don’t have to fight your way to the front of the counter to get a drink – instead, they have table service, which is just the icing on the cake and means you can really enjoy your time with your friends.
