Hello everyone! Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was quite uneventful. I was a bit under the weather. But I feel much better now and hopefully, by tomorrow, I will have completely recovered. It is getting pretty cold so make sure you keep yourself warm.
I had posted a blog last month titled ‘At your Service’, in which I mentioned the various services provided by the university to assist and guide you with your academic work. I recently read a blog post that listed a number of apps that are useful to university students. I found the idea very interesting and decided to present you with a list of apps that I have found useful during my time here, hoping that it will help you too.
Blackboard is essential to every university student. It might seem like a hassle to access it if you don’t have your laptop with you or the library computers are all occupied. However, Blackboard has its own app which I wasn’t aware of during my first few months here. It is easily accessible from your mobile phone or tablet. You can access and download all your course materials and files here as well as keep up with any important announcements on the go.
b) The University of Leicester app
Yes, the university has its own app. And it is quite impressive. You can access Blackboard through this app in case you don’t have sufficient space in your mobile device for the separate app. You have a map of the university to make your way around campus easy. You can find a vacant PC on campus so you don’t have to waste time finding an available PC when the library is packed. You can also look at the availability of books in the library. You also have access to essential contact numbers as well as important news and announcements.
Let’s face it. We always run out of change or struggle to find it within the depths of our coin purse before getting on the bus while a long line of people waits behind you. Waste of time, isn’t it? The Arriva bus app allows you to purchase tickets online via your bank account. You can purchase it in advance and use it any time you want to. It is convenient, quick and most importantly, safe.
It is vital to keep up with the news and even more as a Management student to serve the purpose of the course. I have been using Flipboard for years. It publishes articles from various renowned newspapers and categorises the news in accordance to its nature. So you have politics, technology, business, health and many more.
I have been using these for a long time and they have proven to be very beneficial. If you haven’t done so yet, I hope you give these a try. More suggestions? Leave them in the comment section below!
Peace out! 🙂
