I have come to realise that quite a few of my posts are centred around food. But this one isn’t, I promise!
One thing I regret not doing during my first year was joining lots of societies. I was already working two jobs with Unitemps and didn’t want to add more to my plate. I am nearing the end of my second year and definitely don’t want to leave university without volunteering experience. Therefore, I decided to join a fund-raising society and fortunately also got elected as its secretary for the next academic year! We had a Bake Sale today at the Students’ Union to raise some money for charity. And of course, as the title reveals, we had a delicious variety of cookies and doughnuts on display for you lovely people. It was heart warming to see so many people donate money to charity.
I had a wonderful time. It always feels great to contribute and give back to the society. Becoming involved with the Students’ Union is not just a great way to enhance your skills and widen your horizons, but is also a great way to meet new people, socialise and create more opportunities for yourself. If you will be joining university soon, my advice would be to get as involved as you possibly can during your first year. You don’t want to miss out on all these fantastic opportunities!
Peace out! 🙂
