As I mentioned in my previous post, I will be travelling to London soon. It is Easter break and I am sure a lot of you will be travelling too.
I belong to that rare breed of people who actually enjoy packing. I think it is a lot of fun! I used to carry unnecessary items with me all the time and through the years I have learnt to pack smart. I would like to share with you a list of a few staples that I always pack when I travel.
a) Thick shawl/jacket
It is always cold here in the UK. Therefore, I make sure I carry a thick shawl or jacket with me. I also like to pack a pair of gloves and an additional pair of warm fuzzy socks. You never know when you might need these.
Even though it is Spring here, we are all well aware that the English weather cannot be trusted. The sky here can turn on its faucet whenever it feels like! There is always room for an umbrella in my bag.
c) Student ID/NUS card
This may seem unnecessary, but if you are travelling around the UK, make sure to keep your student ID and/or NUS card with you. I always keep mine in hand. They offer great discounts in countless places whether it be restaurants or retail.
Ever since I’ve come to university, I have stopped keeping cash in hand because using a card is so much more convenient. However, keeping some cash in hand is crucial. They don’t have ATMs everywhere and you never know when you might just need some cash. I have learnt my lesson and now I always have at least 20 pounds in my purse.
e) Extra pair of glasses
Don’t ask me how but I have broken my glasses countless times while travelling. I am practically blind without my glasses and without an extra pair in hand, it is a nightmare! Ever since, I have made sure to always have an extra pair in my bag. If you wear glasses all the time, don’t forget to pack an extra pair before you travel!
These are just a few of my essentials. What are yours? Let me know in the comment section below!
Peace out! 🙂
